Today's 'mini' was done quickly.... a bit of collage, limited palette and some graphite crayon. I didn't paint out the collage which I have a tendency to do and I am happy with what is showing. I was thinking of adding a bit more paint and pencil, but I think I will just leave it....for now!
Enjoy your painting time!
'Prairie Red #7' 6"X6 1/4" Acrylic mixed media on Somerset printmaking paper |
Love it! Great negative spaces!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol - sometimes it is hard to keep those spaces!
DeletePrairie Red #7 has a playful, 'naive' quality that I love. Compelling detail, plenty of quiet space, and lines-shapes-scribbles that speak of the artist (you!) behind it all deciding and doing, choosing and creating. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dotty. Glad this appeals to you - I thought it was 'unfinished', but on a third look said 'no' this is a good place to stop. Have a good day!
DeleteWell you may not be painting lot, but what you are doing is pretty wonderful. I haven't collaged but know it takes just the right item in the right space and you certainly pulled it off here with those wonderful pops of color. Why is we go through these periods, is it just part of the artistic process? Some times have no ideas or go and other times becomes a whirlwind full of ideas and just can't get it down fast enough.
ReplyDeleteHi Neliva - thank you very much for the positive comments. Yes - being an artist is not easy, solitary time in the studio, too many ideas, no ideas - but look at us still painting! But it sure helps having the support of other 'artist-friends'. Have a great day!
DeleteLove the shapes, and the rustic quality. I have been discombobulated this whole month with the site problems. And that won't be finished until next week. Pure luck that I am turning out anything decent at all.
ReplyDeleteSomeone recently said something like... make art. Make bad art if that is all that is coming out, but keep making art.
Your work is always so amazing janet. The muse may be sleeping, but she is not gone for good ;)
Thanks very much Sheila. Maybe we dig a little deeper (not realizing we are) when things aren't flowing. I sometimes feel like I am in head down mode and pushing through as hard as I can and when I look up maybe it's not as bad as I thought! I don't know about you but I don't think there will never be enough time in the day for creating! I hope your site problems sort out sooner so you can get on with your painting. I think your painting for this 30in30 is some of your strongest!! Enjoy a day in your studio with a muse who is wide eyed and cheering you on!
