Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Collage

So interesting when you put everything together. I had a plan, but abandoned the plan by Day 8... The plan was painting still life for the 30 days. The flowers that I was painting just weren't meeting my expectations, but I was enjoying painting the vessels. And I love interpreting the landscape and walking every day does not give one the option to ignore that inspiration! No masterpieces, but pushed my limits, discovered new colour palettes, experimented with colour mixes, subject matter and exploring new techniques. An added bonus - invited my 'positive muse' into my studio more often than not. Looking forward to painting - at a less pressured pace! Have a wonderful day.

Thirty Paintings in 30 Days
January 2017

  1. Janet, you collage is beautiful.
Your color palette is so rich and gorgeous and harmonious!

  2. Janet, wonderful to see this new post today. I totally love how your January paintings resonate with each other.

What tool did you use to create your collage? I was going to try to make one, but was too frazzled by too many other things to get past the least little hurdle with the two programs I looked at.

    1. Hi Dotty - sorry for the late reply! Playing catch up at this end….For my collage I used PicCollage - the free version. As I said before my computer skills are weak at best, but I was able to get this working. Give it a try (I am using a Mac). I liked that I could set the grid format and fiddle around with the colours for the grid. I am going to take a look at Gimp - Sheila mentioned it to me - although her computer skills are heads and tails above mine. Will let you know how it is. Thank you for the comment about the 30 for January. Is interesting to see everyone’s paintings in a grouping and see a common thread.

  3. Isn't it great when you take a look at them all together. I pulled info from the views and reaction and kind of am using it like forum info. I still need to spend more time here but just at a glance love all the colors, shapes and your different compositions. Nice job and congratulations.

  4. Thanks Nelvia. Appreciate you taking a look and leaving a comment. Congratulations to you too!

  5. They all look wonderful together! A great collage!

  6. Janet, I think you are wrong. I think all but one or two ARE masterpieces. I just love your potted plants. Pure joy! Really like the greens in the brown pot, can't remember what the white flower is. Your landscapes are so inspiring to me. I so want to paint like you :) The depth you create is intoxicating! So glad I discovered you throught the challenge :)

  7. Thank you yet again Sheila. Your are so generous and supportive to myself and other artists - with your observations and comments. I don't know how you do it all!! We are our own worst critics and it is always good to see it through someone else's eyes. I want to paint like you!! Your watercolours are beautiful - I look at them and cant get over the intensity of colour you achieve and the beautiful mark making. Thanks again and look forward to seeing more of your art!
