Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Day 22

Too many commitments this weekend but looking forward to the coming week and getting back into my regular routine. This is a quick study (about 30 minutes). I am struggling with still life painting. I had mentioned in a previous post that I am trying to discover my own approach to this imagery - I am still looking! I find the shape and colour of the red vessel appealing but the green is lacking - needs more value change. I am still thinking about the background - I like to use pattern & line but think I will just leave this painting and do another.  I hope that your painting has gone well this weekend and on to the final week of the 30in30.

  1. I can feel the clay of these vessels in my hands. My whole internal landscape slows down to a quiet standstill in the presence of this little still life. I am reconnected with every time I've ever placed one object here, another there. Wait, let me move this one just a tiny bit. So. There. Now, something in me is aligned. The beauty of physical objects infuses me. I walk into my day.

  2. Thanks for the lovely comment Dotty - you see what I don't. Maybe it will occur to me today. You are an amazing writer - always appreciate your comments. Enjoy the day in your studio.
