Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - All Together

....and here they are all together! So glad I stuck with the dogs! Some days it wasn't easy, but I have learned a lot and am looking forward to painting more 4 legged friends. Many thanks to Leslie Saeta for organizing and to all of you who have visited - your support is priceless! Happy painting!!

Thirty Paintings in 30 Days
February 2018

And just for fun before and after pictures of my painting area - if you look under the table you can see a couple of my lovely models. They like to nap under the desk while I paint - good company!

Creative Chaos

Clean - but not for long
Sully and Kali relaxing - it can get a little crowded under
there if Cleo climbs in. There is another bed though so
everyone has somewhere comfortable to nap!

  1. Just marvelous! My dog goes under the table only when frightened of loud noises, thunder, etc.

    1. Thanks Carol - through the years we have had dogs like that too - there was not much we could do to comfort them - other than wait it out with them. Looking forward to seeing you dog!!

  3. I love your dogs!!! I love your soft palette. And how some of these are on the caricature side, and some are more "serious" portraits. So fun, and so obvious you are an animal lover. Congratulations Janet, on a superb month!!

    1. Thank you Sheila - can't do the 'serious' all the time - is freeing to just have some fun and each way of painting brings something good to the other. Lucky to have the animals we do - brings a lot to my life! Looking forward to seeing more art from your corner of the world!

  5. You give whole new meaning to Dog Days, an expression I just looked up to get a precise definition.

According to an online source, the dog days or dog days of summer are the hot, sultry days of summer. They were historically the period following the heliacal rising of the star Sirius, which Greek and Roman astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs, and bad luck.

OK, let's get real here and re-define. The dog days or Janet's dog days of winter are the cold, biting days of winter, which Canadian astrology connects with deep freezes, snow, sudden inspiration, energy, focused purpose, the cutest dogs ever, and wild success.

    1. Thank you, thank you Dotty! I am dreaming of those summer dogs! Another foot of snow here and more in the forecast. Will be welcome moisture come spring thaw, but a bit of a grind right now. Thanks for all the great comments you have left - always welcome and sure helps when the paint isn't 'flowing'. Can't wait to see what shows up on your blog - happy painting!!
